Seminar at KCG to Commemorate the International Networking Conference with Lecture by KCGI Prof. Tateishi

02,08,2019

Over a six day period from March 9 to March 14, the 64th ICANN International Conference will be taking place at the Kobe International Conference Center and Kobe Portopia Hotel in Kobe City. Over 2,000 Internet professionals from about 100 countries will be participating. In commemoration of the event, a New Year’s seminar was held on January 29 at the Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG) Ekimae Campus. Professor Toshiaki Tateishi—Vice President and Executive Director of the Japan Internet Providers Association (JIPA)—gave a lecture titled “The Day the Internet Disappears”.

Over the last 20 years there has been a dramatic evolution with the Internet in which it had contributed greatly to people's daily lives. However, at the same time the ubiquitousness of the Internet also continues to cause problems. Professor Tateishi spoke about the Internet and its governance using real world examples.

This is the second ICANN International Conference to be held in Japan, the last of which was the 6th ICANN Conference in Yokohama in July 2000.
